Rafi Persky: How Many Times Did You Count to 10
One of the most distinctive voices in Israeli rock, Persky celebrates the album that became one of the genre’s most influential records. This special one-time concert is a tribute to the groundbreaking debut that helped shape the sound of Israeli rock.
How Many Times Did You Count to 10? became one of the most beloved and influential albums in Israeli music of the 1990s. Produced by Yaakov Gilad, the album was born after Persky met Gilad at the recording studio where he worked. Persky told him that he wrote songs and asked him to listen to them. From there, everything quickly became both a sensation and a milestone in Israeli music history.
Songs such as “Million Dollar,” “How Many Times,” “Once a Week,” and “Good for Me, Good for Me” became major hits, and the album quickly achieved Gold Record status.
The performance will feature the album in its entirety, presented in fresh new arrangements. Persky will be joined on stage by Geva Alon, who also serves as the show’s musical director, and Django. Alongside this all-star lineup of guitarists will be Assaf Reis on drums and Omer Elias on keyboards.
According to Persky, “After many offers and a great deal of thought, I feel this is the right time to celebrate this album. The new show combines songs from the album with selections from the records that followed. I’m very excited to be working on this performance, and even more excited to celebrate it with the audience that has accompanied me throughout my career.”
