Between Beit Hillel and Beit Shammai - On Controversies and Tolerance in Jerusalem

Join us on our new tour, “Between Beit Hillel and the Beit Shammai,” an exciting journey through Jerusalem’s historic alleyways. The tour will explore the culture of controversy, from the distant past to the hottest issues of our time.

Please note that this is a Hebrew language tour

Join us on a walking tour of approximately two-and-a-half hours between Jerusalem’s ancient alleyways, in which we will examine the role of the controversy of Jewish and Israeli identity, while we investigate questions such as:

  • Is this dispute always negative, or can it inform growth
  • How does the controversy “for the sake of heaven” look as opposed to disputes that deepen the rifts?
  • Most importantly, how can we learn to live with disputes and manage them more healthily?
  • In Jerusalem, where we meet different religions, perceptions, and beliefs, that have lasted for thousands of years, each question like this takes on a much deeper meaning.

We will walk the Beit Hillel and Beit Shammai streets, then cross to the Musrara neighborhood, and discover the places where the controversy turned into bridges or walls.
